The Basics: Traditional vs. Flex

Culinary Services offers two categories of residential Meal Plans: Traditional and Flex.

Traditional Meal Plans

Traditional Meal Plans allow you to spend your weekly meals at any residential Residential Dining Court, Earl's Coop (Shively Grab N Go), both Campus Food Trucks (Hungry Cat & Brick City Deli On The Go) and Smooth Moves (Boyd Market).  Meals are loaded onto your OHIO ID card on Sunday morning and expire on Saturday night each week. Our venues offer a total of 34 Meal Periods throughout the week in which to spend your meals. Traditional Meal Plans offer guest meals as well. Traditional Meal Plans may be selected in increments that will provide 14 or 20 meals per week.

Flex Meal Plans

Flex Meal Plans offer all of the perks of the Traditional Meal Plans with three added bonuses:

  1. Spend Your Meals at the Campus Markets: Flex Meals may be spent at any Campus Market and have an equivalency of $6.75. Meals can be spent on a variety of items that will be useful on-the-go or to have on-hand in your residence hall, such as snacks, drinks, fresh fruit and vegetables, toiletries and more.
  2. Enjoy a Variety of Venues Using Flex Points: Flex Meal Plans include $225 Flex Points each semester. Flex Points offer immense flexibility as they can be spent at the majority of Culinary Services' venues, such as Campus Cafes, West 82 Food Court (Baker Center), Latitude 39 (Baker Center) both Campus Food Trucks (Hungry Cat & Brick City Deli On The Go) and Brick City Deli (Jefferson Marketplace).
  3. Multiple Meals per Meal Period: More than one Meal may be spent during one Meal Period with a Flex Meal Plan. While Culinary Services offers 34 Meal Periods throughout the week to spend your meals, Flex Meal Plans give you the opportunity to double-up within a Meal Period or treat as many guests as wish. You will be charged one meal swipe per guest.

Flex Meal Plans may be purchased in increments that will provide 14 or 20 meals per week.
