Parking Lot Snow & Ice Removal

Each winter Transportation & Parking partners with Facilities Management to perform snow and ice removal activities during inclement weather periods. The following guidelines have been established for campus parking facilities:

Key parking lots throughout campus have been selected as Tier I emergency locations to coordinate snow and ice removal efforts.

Tier I parking lots are identified as key parking areas on campus with high utilization such as Ping Lot 87, Golf & Tennis Center Lot 93, Baker Surface Lot 122, Convocation Center Lots 127/128, Peden Stadium Lot 132, Walter Hall Lot 134 and the Medical Education Center Lot 147.

Once finished with Tier 1 locations crews will work as quickly as possible to continue with treating other parking lots on campus.

Please advise that given weather conditions, the duration of winter storms, and timing of the storms the time required to treat campus parking facilities may vary.

If you arrive to campus during a snow storm, before the parking area can be treated or the parking lines are not visible please use visual cues like signage or parking blocks to estimate where the parking space is located. Do not block parking lot drive isles to allow the Facilities crew to navigate the parking lot.

Transit Operations

The safety of transit operators and our passengers is a key component of our service operations. In the event of ice or inclement weather transit services may operate under modified service levels/schedules. Inclement weather deviations may include the use of alternative routes and service timing. In the event of a change in standard operations due to weather or environmental conditions TPS will work proactively to communicate transit deviations/disruptions with the campus community. Under a level III snow emergency campus transit programs will not be in operation.
