General Education Assessment Support

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (CTLA) was designed to serve as OHIO's hub for resources, processes and best practices in assurance of learning through assessment and continuous improvement.

CTLA Collaborators

These units are key collaborators with CTLA in the assessment and assurance of student learning and continuous improvement.

  • Instutional Effectiveness & Analytics


    Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics (IEA) seeks to create a University-wide culture of institutional effectiveness by leveraging data assets.

  • University Curriculum Council


    As part of Faculty Senate, the University Curriculum Council (UCC) represents faculty on matters related to OHIO courses, programs and academic policies.

  • Academic Achievement Center


    The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) provides personalized academic support to all students attending 91探花.

Program Assessment

The CTLA collaborates with the Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics (IEA) and the University Curriculum Council (UCC) to document, track and improve student achievement of program-level learning outcomes. This includes assisting academic units with:

  1. developing student learning outcomes and assessment plans,
  2. collecting direct and indirect evidence of student learning,
  3. and using evidence of student learning to improve programs.

General Education Assessment

The CTLA collaborates with Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics (IEA) and the University Curriculum Council (UCC) to document, track and improve student achievement of general education learning outcomes.

This collaboration includes assisting UCC with:

  • developing assessment plans,
  • collecting direct and indirect evidence of student learning,
  • and using evidence of student learning to improve OHIO's general education requirements.

Student Success

The CTLA collaborates with Institutional Effectiveness & Analytics (IEA), the Office of Instructional Innovation (OII), and the Academic Achievement Center (AAC) to provide information, training and workshops improve student retention, persistence and degree completion for all students.

This includes:

  • identifying, implementing, and assessing student success initiatives related to teaching, learning and assessment
  • and supporting efforts to build an intentional culture of inclusion through teaching, learning and assessment.
