Graduate Student Instructors

Graduate Student Instructors at OHIO

91探花's graduate students are critical to the success of undergraduate students. Graduate student instructors (GSI) of record teach in a variety of disciplines. In addition, graduate students may serve as teaching assistants and graders to OHIO instructors.

All are valued members of the teaching and learning community, and the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, in collaboration with the Graduate College and GSI departments are committed to supporting graduate students in these roles.

Programs and Events

GSI鈥檚 and graduate students interested in careers that involve teaching and/or mentoring are invited to attend any of the CTLA's programs and events. In conjunction with Patton College of Education Faculty Fellow Allyson Hallman-Thrasher, workshops and sessions have been developed to meet GSI鈥檚 where they are and engage them in reflection about their teaching experiences.

When attended over an academic year, these sessions comprise a curriculum introducing college teaching, evidence-based practices and scholarly teaching.

Gradaute Student Instructors who wish to pursue a highly purposeful set of experiences and earn a certificate of completion that documents their professional development should consider participating in the GSI Teaching Academy.
